Avast is not working

My avast has been working  and today I logged on and it is not protecting at all I don't know what to do can you help please, should I re install?

Repair avast!:
1. Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs -> avast!
2. Click on 'Repair'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.
