Mac notebook blocked after Avast installation...
« on: July 14, 2014, 09:09:31 PM »
Hello All,

I'm sorry for the following partial information.
I've had avast on my PC for a long time and I found it good, so I suggested to a friend of mine
to install it. She has a Mac notebook. She is a very basic user and she is away from me.

1) She told she successfully downloaded the setup file but she couldn't find the setup file on the notebook.
2) This morning she found it and executed it. She told the installation was fine.
3) After the installation she located the Avast application and ran it, but nothing happened.
4) She thought she had to restart again the notebook and she did it.
5) After rebooting, she told that the Mac stayed blocked during the boot of the OS: she can see the apple on the monitor but nothing happens.

I haven't had a mac so I don't know how I could help her.

Any idea?

Thank you very much.

I had the same kind of issue. After updating most outside connections were blocked.
1. Couldn't surf the web (3 Different browsers)
2. Couldn't  look for apple updates or view the app store.
3. Couldn't update the Avast virus definitions.

I uninstalled AVAST this morning and my troubles are gone.

Hi rozal_arch,

Thanks for reporting your experience, but in my case she cannot reach the desktop since the mac is blocked
at booting time...

Thanks anyway.
