Outlook Crashes after recent Office updates
« on: July 15, 2014, 04:10:27 AM »
Hi,

After Windows Update installed Office 2013 Update KB2880987 and Word 2013 Update KB2881080 (both released on July 8th), the Avast Add-in to Outlook 2013 crashes Outlook and gets disabled. I cannot get it reenabled and have Outlook not crash. I have used Avast installer to change the installation to remove all scanners (file, web, mail) and outlook worked fine. When I repeated the process to add them back in the crashes recommenced.

I have W7 Professional SP1, Office Professional Plus 2013, Avast 2014.9.0.2021(uptodate) and definitions 140714-1, also uptodate.

Anybody have a solution for this?

Steve

I should have searched better. There's a post on the forum that says the same basic problem occurred when upgrading to Avast 2914.9.0.2021. It said to do a full uninstall of Avast and then reinstall.

Presto! It worked.

When I went back into Outlook, the add in was still disabled (I guess because that was the state when I uninstalled). However, unlike before when enabling caused Outlook to crash, this time, the add in got enabled.
