Warning Birthday Party Add-on
« on: July 17, 2014, 03:46:54 PM »
I've been getting an odd warning that is labeled as if it's coming from Avast!.  I'm not sure if it is though.  I've included a screen shot so people can see exactly what it looks like.

I've looked through the add-ons and didn't find anything.  I also didn't find anything related in the list of programs.

I've ran avast! and malwarebytes but neither turns up any viruses or malware.  Does anyone know what this message is about?

This alert is from part of the av solution named Browser Cleanup. It analyzes your browser extensions and add-ons. When something insecure is found up it will ask you to remove it. Birthday Party Add-on comes without a choice to opt-out and there is a data-retention warning.

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!
