Avast Blocked Website that I think is actually OK
« on: July 19, 2014, 03:40:41 AM »
I am using avast!  Free Antivirus Program version 2014.9.0.2021 and Virus definitions version 140718-1 and when I tried to go to http://duckdns.org, I get a beeping and a popup that gives me the following message:

Code: [Select]
avast! Web Shield has blocked a harmful webpage or file.

Object: http://duckdns.org/
Infection: URL:Mal
Process: C:\Program Files (x86)/.../chrome.exe

Clicking the More details button takes me to a webpage with the following message:

Code: [Select]
Infekce zablokována
URL hxxp://duckdns.org/
Infection URL:Mal
Relax, your avast! just saved you from a virus.
Protect yourself against other types of threats by upgrading now.

When I checked duckdns.org on siteadvisor.com, it says that the site is fine. Is there really a problem with this site, or is it just a false positive? What can I do to get it working as I would like to set it up to manage my dynamic DNS for my home computer.

Thanks.

There may be some issues...http://dnscheck.pingdom.com/?domain=duckdns.org
Several other tests came up clean. You can report false positives using this form.
Dell Inspiron, Win10x64--HP Envy Win10x64--Both systems Avast Free v17.9.2322, Comodo Firewall v8.2 w/D+, MalwareBytes v3.0, OpenDNS, Super Anti-Spyware, Spyware Blaster, MCShield, Unchecky, Vivaldi Browser and, various browser security tools.

Thanks Para-Noid. I just filled out the form to report a false positive. I also did a VirusTotal scan of duckdns.org and it came up clean as well.

Never rely on just one online scanner. I use over a dozen to check websites.
One scanner could quite easily miss something another scanner might detect.
