Unknown problem
« on: July 22, 2014, 03:42:25 PM »
Over the last couple of days I have gotten this message: Infection blocked! File new_fax_003_180614.pdf

I see no evidence of this file anywhere. Not in an email, not found by searching with Finder. And nothing shows up in the Avast virus chest. Am I missing something? Thanks.

Infected files found by the mailshield are handled on the network layer and the infected
files are thus not put into the chest (no such file/path exists). The received mail is modified so,
that there is an empty attachment instead of the infected file.

However, you should be able to find an email with the given Subject/From header fields in your
mail client.

That's really weird as I see no suspicious emails either. But I understand how it might be completely blocked. Thanks.

The infected email should be in your mailbox (in the mail client), we do not delete whole
emails. If it isn't, than something went wrong. Aren't there any interesting messages in the
system log file (/var/log/system.log)?
