Avast Internet Security and iTunes
« on: July 23, 2014, 05:06:10 PM »
I have an HP Envy laptop running Windows 8.  I installed Avast Internet Security yesterday, and ever since, my iTunes will not open, or briefly open and then crash.  I am incredibly frustrated, as I paid for 2 year of this Internet Security Software, but if it does not allow iTunes to run I will have to get rid of it.  I can't live without iTunes.

iTunes does open in safe mode, where all plugins are inactive, so I think it has something to do with Avast inserting itself into iTunes somehow?  I cannot figure this out for the life of me, but it needs to be fixed.  Thank you!

Is/was there another av on the system?
If so which one?

I used McAfee prior to avast, but my subscription ran out and I disliked how much memory/data McAfee used at a time, so I did not renew my subscription.

There's no other av on the system.

Never mind, I was able to solve my own problem.

Under Settings>antivirus, I added all Apple files as exclusions.  Additionally, I completely wiped my computer of iTunes/Apple programs by using this tutorial (https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6562#reinstall) and then reinstalled iTunes.  Good as new again.

You also should remove everything from McAcrap.
Just uninstall from control panel will not do it.
