My Devices causes runaway task
« on: July 25, 2014, 08:36:33 PM »
I'm running Avast for Mac (v. 9.0 (42126), current virus defs 14072500) on a MacBook Pro (OS X 10.6.8).  Whenever I open Avast and select My Devices, my CPU jumps to 100+% and my fans sound like they're going to burn out.  Activity Monitor says task not responding and only a Force Quit will resolve the issue.  Fortunately, I don't really need to know my devices and everything else looks just fine but it IS a problem.

Was this an upgrade from a previous version of Avast or a fresh install?  Did you do a default install or a custom install if this was a fresh install?  You may want to try and Repair (if there is an option?), otherwise, do an uninstall and fresh CUSTOM install and only install what you need (my preference).

Otherwise, your machine is working fine and everything is up to date?
Mac 10.9.4 /Safari and Firefox (NoScript/AdBlockPlus/BetterPrivacy/Ghostey)/
Vista Home Prem (same add-on's)/Avast Free/Online Armor Premium Firewall/MBAM Premium)/ Mobile MBAM.
