Boot scan on Avast
« on: July 26, 2014, 06:47:59 PM »
Hello, I was thinking about doing a boot scan soon And i was told that boot scan can have some false positives on some important files that the computer needs to run and I am not sure what type of files these are, If anyone could list the obvious ones that i do need that would be very helpful thank you!

Every system is different.
There is no way to create a list.
You just have to use common sense.

 Important:
Please be advised, that the Boot-time scan is an advanced and purposeful feature designed to be used only when there’s something bad going on the system, and usually takes some time before it finishes. That's why it cannot be scheduled to run every time the computer starts, but as needed only.

Perform a normal scan.
Make sure you have set it to scan all files.

Next to the avast scan, also do a full scan with Malwarebytes.

Before going to the party, create image of your drive(s).
Better safe than sorry  ;)
