Avast software updater
« on: July 28, 2014, 06:04:13 PM »
Hi all,

having a bit (understatement) of a problem with Java and the way the Avast software updater sees it.

The software updater is still seeing "Java runtime environment 6 (64 bit)" even though I have moved heaven and earth to get rid of it (Eventually using Windows "fix it")

Right now my system should be Java free and it's is not included in the list if installed programs (via control panel) but still shows visible in the "start->all programs" list.

Just wondering how I get get Avast to recognise that version 6 is no longer there. ?
I had version 7 of Java and that uninstalled fine and Avast has recognised this.

Any ideas ?

I guess that would be the Java updater you are seeing in startups, you can remove that via "manage add-ons " in your browser tools if you are on IE - not sure where it is in other browsers.

Or you could use Javara to totally remove it http://singularlabs.com/software/javara/
