Is there is a way to prevent Remote Assistance from being installed by default?

I'm not sure and can't check right now, but isn't it an option while running the custom installation? It is called AccessAnywhere.

It wasn't an option when creating an installation package and then running that setup. The only component I selected was the File System Shield and I don't see the option to disable it from the console.

This is how I handled it.

I wanted to allow non-students to use it, but block students from messing with it.

When I configured the settings for the "group" where I put the student computers, I put a password on "General Program Access" so they can't even open up the main screen for Avast!.  For the other groups, in their respective configuration settings, I left the "General Program Access" box unchecked.
