service 'avastUI'
« on: August 08, 2014, 05:20:54 AM »
3rd posting. Where are my other 2??

3rd and final try. It should not be hard to get a submittal posted.

What is the service 'avastUI' for? I stopped if from loading. I think its just the taskbar thing. using resources and really not for much else?

Am I fully protected with it off?

wow, it actually posted. I did the exact same thing twice hours ago today and they never got posted. I sure hope avast av works better then posting to this forum.

that stupid captcha is hard to read. Last two posts I had to retry and the 2nd and 4th try were accepted, but never got posted. This post above my captcha guess was correct the 1st try. Are captchas really needed for forums?

U may never see this post, if i guess wrong on the captcha below.

ok, so for thread starts, only if the 1st captcha being correct gets posted, however for a reply, even though I got "The letters you typed don't match the letters that were shown in the picture." My 2nd guess was right, so my reply got posted.

jezzzzz

2nd reply: 1st try wrong, 2nd try wrong, here goes my 3rd guess at the captcha. Is this really needed?

4th try, 5th

I do not understand what you are asking?  Can you be a little more clear or detailed?  Are you referring to the Avast GUI in the toolbar?  What "service" did you stop?

By the way, the captcha is only for the first few posts of all new members to help prevent spam; you should notice that you won't need it any more.  Yes, all your posts were posted.

If you want to know if you are protected, since I do not know your OS, go to your Security Center and see if your antivirus is on...or if you didn't delete Avast in the bottom toolbar, you will see an orange/blue ball there and you can click on that.

AvastUI handles all the user interface. Without it, you won't see any notifications about malware being detected or files deleted; other functions (e.g. the context menu scan) also won't be available.

I have gotten notices about attack web pages and also the 'get in your way' notice every time the av database is updated and other 'get in you way' needless avast notices. Yea I know I can turn them off and will do so soon. But 1st i wanna know about avastui. I make one change at a time.
