hey guys, you are forgetting KERIO!

http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=14894.0

Kerio seems pretty enjoyable, I gotta try that firewall someday.   8)

Hi folks,

Please tell the young master YinYang4evry1 that a firewall and AV program are not longer sufficient as a security line of defense, it has to be multilayered: good AV (=AVAST), online scanning, good firewall, good anti-malware (adware, scumware, anti-trojan etc),
an ID monitor and System monitor, checksum program and we start talking.

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!

that just brings up a memory of mine( i didn't say question because I ask too many of them ;D  ;D )
some free versions are crippled of the updates
I don't really mind about auto update but I just fear that the free versions have less signatures ( not on all products ) :'(

Both paid and free versions should have an equal amount of virus signatures in their database no matter what antivirus or antispyware it is.

whew i feel better and more assured now
it just doesn't feel right IF I were to have a crippled version, excluding features. I worry about how many definitions a program has. Both of the following are trials:

I use trend micro anti-spyware and thought it had a lot 47,172
but when I downloaded trial webroot antispyware it had 99,168
but trend micro antispyware detects more on mine

If you want unlimited antispyware protection (non-free trials) try these:

Spybot Search & Destroy

Ad-aware SE

Spyware Blaster (This program is protecting your browser from downloading malware, it does not have a manuel scan engine)

I just want to add before installing spywareblaster make sure you have a clean pc cause if there is any spyware on it when you install it it's gonna stay there! ;)

good luck!

what do you mean by it's gonna stay there
I mean , I know that it won't remove and prevent them
But I can still remove it with another spyware remover right?

Spyware Blaster will prevent any malware in it's database from downloading from your browser.  It's only use for IE and Firefox

Just make sure to run every cleaner you have before installing spywareblaster cause it also prevents cleaning some of the badies if you have them already before installing. It's a great program though i use it myself also and am very pleased with it.Also run an online scanner like this one: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Have fun
