MSI Control Center False Positive?! Help!
« on: August 15, 2014, 09:24:14 PM »
Today Avast Free has started blocking CCAM.exe (The process MSI Control Center uses to start up) as "Win32:Evo-gen (Susp)".

I decided to try reinstalling the program (which was a bad idea in hindsight), but now Avast is blocking the installer when it tries to install CCAM.exe.
I use this program to control all my case fans and have for years, I need to fix this as soon as possible!

Thank you,

- C.

EDIT: I've since added the folder to exclusions, so I have it running again, but I would like to confirm that this is a false positive.

Report it to avast using the contact form:
www.avast.com/contact-form.php

Please use the search option before posting as this and many other things are already told many times.

Thank you, I've reported it. And yes, I did search the forums first, but while I did find references to "Win32:Evo-gen (Susp)" being involved in a few false-positives, I did not find anything involving MSI Control Center.

Thanks again,

- C.

Ok, now it is up to avast to solve it.
Could be it is already solved in the latest vps update.

As far as for the searching, I mend on how to report a false positive.
I should have more clear about it, sorry.
