« on: August 16, 2014, 03:28:50 PM »
Hej

Last day i tried to help my sister by making her pc faster so i started an Avast! scan and i ask me to update it but some thing went wrong and i just did a scan using the older version. today when i triede to start it the PC i went stok just after the Windows loading logo in black screen i tried restart and it did't help, also triede in safemode but i frezze at "aswRvrt.sys" for a couple of secoonds and vent to bluescreen. i also triede to start i in last working condition but this did't help either.

the pc
is an Asus whith Windows 7 64bit

Is there anything i could do to get it to start?

You may want to try using an ISO disk.
Did you by any chance create a system recovery disk.

Can you re-boot and get to the command prompt?
Dell Inspiron, Win10x64--HP Envy Win10x64--Both systems Avast Free v17.9.2322, Comodo Firewall v8.2 w/D+, MalwareBytes v3.0, OpenDNS, Super Anti-Spyware, Spyware Blaster, MCShield, Unchecky, Vivaldi Browser and, various browser security tools.

if you by "can you re-boot anf get to the command promt?" mean starting it in safemode whit commandpromt, then it get the same aswRvrt.sys message as in normal safemode and safemode whit network.

we dont have a recovery disk or ISO disk if that is the same as an installation disk for windows 7

UPDATA i played a little around and got the the sceen whits is attached
Startup Repair - tried
System restore - Tried to the one point show

is it this commandpromt you ask for?

Download the following three programmes to your desktop :

1.  Rufus

For 64bit systems
2. Windows 7 64bit RC  (I will PM the download link for this )
3. Farbar Recovery Scan Tool x64

Insert the USB stick Then run Rufus

Select the ISO file on the desktop via the ISO icon.

Press Start Burn

Then copy FRST to the same USB

Insert the USB into the sick computer and start the computer.  First ensuring that the system is set to boot from USB
Note: If you are not sure how to do that follow the instructions Here

Windows 7 and Vista screenshots

When you reboot you will  see this.
 Click repair my computer

Select your operating system

Select Command prompt

At the command prompt type the following  :

notepad and press Enter
The notepad opens. Under File menu select Open
Select "Computer" and find your flash drive letter and close the notepad.
In the command window type e:\frst64.exe  or  e:\frst.exe dependant on system
 and press Enter
Note: Replace letter e with the drive letter of your flash drive.
The tool will start to run.
When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.

Press Scan button.
It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the flash drive. Please copy and paste it to your reply.

This fixlist will now disable Avast.  Did you download any windows updates at the same time ?

Download the attached fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Run FRST as before and press Fix
Once done try a normal boot

No it is not essential to do anything with Avast, that was my last resort option

Glad you are back up and running :)

Curious, you said you ran "old" fixlist....you mean you re-ran the first (reply #7) one Essexboy posted above again ?......then did Windows Repair and it then booted ?  In other words.....you did not run second fixlist (Reply #9) he posted at all ?
Just trying to understand for future people with possible same issue.
