Free licence re-newal non-functional.
« on: August 21, 2014, 06:14:29 PM »
Hi guys 'n' gals,
Here's yet another long term user with the same problem re; re-registering the free versions licence.
I've checked "all" the other posts on the subject......No go.

I have done the following...
1/. D/L'd the Avast "un-installer/cleaner" utility.
2/. Started my WIN7 HP in safe mode.
3/. Run the above "un-installer/cleaner."
4/. Re-booted the comp.
5/. Run the Avast D/L utility & installed Avast free, using my choice of "Options." (I didn't want them all.)
6/. Let Avast complete the installation & do it's quick scan.
7/. Opened it up & went through all the options/settings that I require. (No pop-ups or sound notifications required.)

Now lets get back to the "real" problem.
I opened Avast, went to the "Registration" settings & tried to complete the re-newal function.
I tried on-line & off-line using your supplied, emailed key code, but neither way works.

I still have a non-licenced version of Avast free sitting here.

I do not have any "devices", so that feature is a non-goer.

What now chaps?

Any other ideas on how to re-new my Avast free licence?

Many ta's.

Mike..

Avast is aware of this glitch which should be fixed with the next release.  You can try doing an uninstall/reinstall to see if that works, which it did for me and some others....or wait 10 days and it will auto-renew according to Avast.  Please save the license and email just in case.

Hi Bob, SafeSurf,

As I posted, I've tried all the suggested procedures, even the suggested "hosts" file fix but none work.

& yes, I've saved the email containing the licence code that was sent.

Will await the "fix."

Many thanks for the responses.

Regs, Mike..
