Suspicious file no threat found
« on: September 08, 2014, 12:40:02 PM »
I can't find an option in Avast Free to send a file that Avast reports as 'NO THREAT FOUND' when I think it is in fact suspicious. If there is such an option, where is it exactly?

Hello

send the file to be analyzed virus@avast.com and put "Report undetected malware" in the subject line in format Zip or Rar.

So, I have used the Virus Chest method to get the file to Avast.

I'm sorry to seem to be criticising but:

1) In my view, there should be a button/link directly to the Virus Chest - it's an important part of the software, yet it is hidden away under the label 'statistics\component status'.

2)If the User has made an effort to submit a file to the lab, it's because they believe the file is suspicious. It should upload to the labs immediately, not wait until the next Avast update - too much time lost, other Users could be hit in the meantime.

Was there a on-execution detection by avast? Avast has some very good backend detectors that catch malware while execution.

Evo-gen and filerep detections only work in on-execution mode. Its done like that on purpose. You can also Send the file to avast via:

I didn't feel the need to run something that I viewed to be suspicious.

You could make your own button/link to the virus chest. It's very easy:

The interface only has room for 4 shortcuts but you can always assign one of these functions you may need
whenever you want to reach any of these portion of avast!
