[Solved] Beta 2: avast NG
« Reply #1 on: September 19, 2014, 11:51:12 PM »
I did some research and found that ngtool.exe is a command-line tool.
I tried this command to reinstall integrated NG environment:
Code: [Select]
ngtool.exe avast reinstalland got this error:
Code: [Select]
C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\ng>ngtool.exe avast reinstall
CmdAvastUninstallWrapper done
Installing VirtualBox...
Creating snapshot...
Volume shadow set: {17fbe114-728b-404c-84be-6a67d99abf3d}
BCD volume: \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy23
Windows volume: \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy24
Creating new hive files...
ERROR: Opening source hive failed. hr=123{?????????????? ?????? ? ????? ?????, ?
???? ????? ??? ????? ????.}, path=\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy
24\Users\\NTUSER.DAT.
ERROR: Hive cant be generated. res=123{?????????????? ?????? ? ????? ?????, ????
? ????? ??? ????? ????.}, name=NTUSER.DAT.
error: ngtool.exe (regbuilder) exited with error: 0x0000007b
CmdAvastInstallWrapper done (result: 0x0000007b)
CmdAvastReinstallWrapper done (result: 0x0000007b)
According to this error message there is something wrong while creating new hive files...

Today I deleted all files from C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\ng\
and there is no any errors in ngtool.log:
Code: [Select]

Got it!
If you want to execute file in NG machine here is an example:
Code: [Select]
Usage: ngtool exec <machine> [commands] <guest-path> <arguments>
    Eg: ngtool exec Ng1 c:\windows\system32\calc.exe
     <machine>     name of the machine
-wait         waits for process to finish
     -instrumented run process instrumented
     -inet         wait for internet connectivity
-copy         copy executable file if missing on guest
<guest-path>  path valid on guest which will be queried.
<arguments>   arguments of the executed process.

Though I haven't got web browser's icons on desktop, I have a working NG environment  :)
