Update Announcement is Waking Us Up

If we don't remember to turn down our speaker volume, then we are jolted awake by "YOUR AVAST DATABASE HAS BEEN UPDATED".  How do I turn off the update announcements, or at least silence their volume?  If this can't be fixed I will need to uninstall and use a different company.  Thanks!

Open avast --> Settings --> Appearance --> Sounds --> disable Automatic update

Thank you for your reply.  The problem now, however, is that I'm getting pop ups again.  I think it might be that I need to reset my preferences after upgrading, but when logging into my account now a settings tab is no where to be found.  Can you please help me again turn off pop ups?  Thank you.

You can enable/disable sounds and pop-ups at the place DJBone told you.

You must change the settings in the avast! UI not in the avast! account.

I tried, and it appears that Avast does not allow you to block popups with the free version.  Is this so?
