Is Gmail Notifier safe & secure?

Hello!

For practical reasons I started using this Gmail Notifier program:

It works fine but I'm concerned in safety and security. Am I exposed to a security risks any more than by using the classic Gmail login on their official site?

Is ti possible for the author of that Gmail Notifier program to see my emails?

Any comments are greatly appreciated!

So you're using that same Gmail Notifier? Did you had to disable something in the Google account to make it work too (some security feature, I forgot the name). Well, if Chief Wiggum says the program is safe I guess it really is safe.  Thank you!

Only 20k while there are millions of user for GMail? Hmmm. Not really software that is wanted by people.

Basically he doesn't provide any information at all how the software is working and what he can/can't see.

Besides Gmail, are there any connections to the Internet ? Yes, for three things

"Third, to track usage statistics". He doesn't mention what statistics, how and such...

I would call this software not trustful at the least.

So you're using that same Gmail Notifier?

i did use if fore some time but replaced it with Google Talk .... it will also give you mail notification and auto login when clicking the mail icon

I was using Google Talk before but really missed the feature of monitoring more than one Gmail address. Now the Gmail Notifier monitors up to 5 and I really like that.

So what do you guys think, is it safe or should I ditch it and change all my passwords?

first thing i see is that you have to be logged in .... it does not auto login when clicked

Is that an extension for the Google Chrome? I use Firefox.

I'd really like to keep the Gmail Notifier because it works wonderfully on my PC, the only thing I'm concerned about, of course, is how secure it is.

It works through IMAP and that's all I really know...

it comes from the Chrome Store. so it's not for Firefox.

For me Google runs in the background and loads with the bootup procedure.
This includes Google Drive etc.
