Now if you could only pass along what you did to fix it, that would be helpful for the next person. :)

This is what I used to fix the sound. I don't know why it shows Brians temp account.

The Clipboard - once the Clipboard history has been turned on:

Everything copied can be easily retrieved.
Just use the Windows Key and the V Key

CAUTION If you copy sensitive information, it will remain even after you reboot.
Clear out sensitive information ASAP or, don't use the copy function on that information.

Seems you are suffering this font size problem again.

I have edited the quote so you can see the very small text (highlighted in Red)

Edit: Added attachment of what text we see on that 2px code above.

Microsoft pulls the Windows 10 October Update

https://news.thewindowsclub.com/microsoft-pulls-windows-10-october-2018-update-93457/
It'll be interesting to know what parameters were used to cause this problem, I managed to get 9 systems updated over two days and all were completely trouble free with no lost info or files.

A couple of my programs won't open and a couple stay minimized.

EDIT

I thought I had my sound problem fixed but it's still not loud as it was before I installed this update.

I updated 4 systems in my home. All working just fine.
I haven't noticed anything missing or not working as it should.

I had no problem on my win10 system, but then again I didn't go diving into an early release of this update.  I tend to hang back now rather than be an MS beta tester ;)

If I can I'm going to uninstall this update.

If you had a robust backup and recovery strategy in place, you should have been able to roll back to a point prior to the update.

Even the Win10 backup/create a system image and also having created a system repair disc.
