Windows 10 KB4524147 Cumulative Update Breaks the Start Menu
https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/windows-10-kb4524147-cumulative-update-breaks-the-start-menu/
Guess I'm lucky that I have a problem with installing the cumulative updates.
I figure the next major update is right around the corner and that should fix my current irritation. :)

Well I'm lucky as I don't see this issue on my systems. Start Menu functions without any Error with KB4524147 installed on Oct 03

I was wondering if I should hang back on this one and use the new 'Pause update for 7 days' after the feature Update 1903.

However that went idea down the toilet when I did a check for updates, only to find it was awaiting a restart.

Whilst compiling this post, it did a further check for updates and now it says that 'Optional updates available'.  That update is 2019-09 Cumulative Update - win10 1903 for x64-based systems (KB4524147), very strange, I have opted to pause updates for 7 days.  Hopefully one way or another MS should have this sorted.

Yes, probably best to wait David.
MS seems to be breaking alot of systems with some of the latest updates.
I got effected a few KB's back that botched both of my Win 10 OS's. The first time since I can remember :-\

Yes it can be a bit of a crap shoot, there are just so many system permutations out there and it is still early days since the release of that update.  Obviously those with the issue will be squealing the house down, much louder than those who haven't experienced the problem.

Whilst I could well be OK, it won't hurt (I hope) to delay it for 7 days.

Microsoft is really getting on my nervs right now with all the stuff happening.

Would like to go to Apple but ive been DMed videos on Manjaros forum how stupid theyre constructed nowadays (MacBook Air and MacBook Pro)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiCBYAP_Sgg

And Linux is good but well for example setting printers up using CUPS or such is just a pain in the back.
And games are also an issue it seems.

so yeahhard to decide where to go to be honest.
Guess i gotta stick to Windows at some point and deal with their issues......

I posted to bob3160 about this and am awaiting his appreciated view.

Are users aware of the existence of this tool:->  https://www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10
It is used to set Windows 10 into hush-telemetry-mode.

This even for settings that Microsoft said were not possible to alter.
In my country it has enthusiastic users.

This tool comes inparticularly  handy when the telemetry settings have been altered through an Windows 10update or patch.
Anyone on this, and of course I wait for bob3160's final verdict.  ;)

On VT this O&O software seems above board, given as clean here:

I used it a few days after I got my win10 laptop some time ago, I think it was bob3160 who mentioned it a very long time ago.

Damian,
You asked me if I ever heard of this tool?
This should answer your question.  Note, my date of making folks aware of this tool goes all the way back to 2015.
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=156141.msg1249912#msg1249912
It's also one of the recommended items in my follow-up email to those that attend my presentations. :)

Why is Microsoft installing this "autopilot" update (crap) on a home PC, what doesn't even have the autopilot function?

Perhaps this is something you should ask of MS or one of the MS forums.

They have a habit of piling unwanted on cr4p on to systems.  I have absolutely no interest in the One Drive, but on virtually every update I get it trying to add a start up entry.
