After the update:

Avast IS again was unable to start the Firewall Module and required an additional boot to be fully functional.

IE will stay for compatibility reasons :)

Does it come installed automatically with the OS?

Edit:  In other words that would be 2 Browsers contained within the OS,
This is still part of Windows 10:

How is it better, what's missing that it's not finished?
Thanks.

At this point, I still prefer IE. Many of it's best features are not implemented in Edge. No tracking protection lists ( so no ad blocking, makes ad heavy sites very slow), no choice of search engine (yet, hopefully they fix that).

Thanks Dch48, that is what I'm looking for; real time comparison by folks that are/have actually used both and can provide their input/opinion on the comparison as I don't/have not installed the preview.

I also don't like the hub thing, have no need for writing on pages, and have no desire to use Cortana.

I want my Windows 10 to be 8.1 with the gaming enhancements of Direct X 12. I intend to set it up that way as much as possible.

Not all of us use our systems the same way even if we run the same OS. :)
If you don't like something, shut it off or, don't use it. It's always nice to have more features than less as long as you have the option to choose
which options you want to use. Cortana just like it's predecessors on other systems, is a very handy tool.
The feature is also a great help for many with disabilities. :)

I also understand that MS Office (2016) is included in the W10 OS.
I assume there is a trial period then purchase.

  http://www.ghacks.net/2015/07/17/confirmed-windows-10-home-users-to-receive-forced-updates/

Most of the infected systems I've run into had not been updated. The infection was usually a direct result of a breach
that could have been prevented if  updates had been done in a timely manor. Updating enhances your security.
I personally have no objections to making updates a matter of course.
If they happen in the background, the system will always be as up to date as possible and, as secure as possible.
