Just installed Windows 10 an everything works apart from Avast.

Contacted helpdesk, they had a look at my PC and said that I should have prepared the PC before installing 10.

It appears I had some bits and pieces of Avast that should or shouldn't be there for Windows 10 - how the hell I was supposed to know this is beyond me, and if I wanted it fixed I had to go to second level support which I would have to pay for.

Avast didn't warn me that Windows 10 may be a problem. The only time I receive any communication from this company is when they want to renew my license.
How come every other software supplier has successfully updated their products to work with Windows 10 and Avast hasn't.

Needless to say as Avast don't appear to be a professional business, it's goodbye to Avast and hello to a different product.
The latest version of Avast works very well with Windows 10.
If you care to explain your problem in your own post, we'd be glad to help.

When she upgraded did she select the right bits to save ?  There are 3 options available

I asked her if she selected the right bits to save and she said she didn't know anything about bits.  I'm glad I didn't upgrade because just like her I don't know what bits are.  All I know is 32 and 64 bits.  What are the three options?

This is what she should have checked:

Worked without a flaw on all of the systems I've converted so far. (12)

No, you lose nothing. Pictures are personal files.

It basically comes down to NOT using the default options when you install Windows 10 (or any other program).
None of my upgrades were set up with default settings and/or permissions.
Default means I'll be doing things your way. Custom means I'll be doing things my way. :)

Windows 10 privacy settings

This will help you decrease some of the information that's shared by default in Windows 10.
(The only way to totally protect your privacy is to never go online, never use a smart device.)

Yes, I have thoroughly gone threw all the Privacy setting and for my use means turning off the Vast Majority including Camera and Microphone until I'm ready to use; then I enable.
Most of my work is done be Key Board.
