Windows 10 - Everything you Need and Want to Know

Well, it's a week to the day since the update came out and I still haven't seen it in Windows Update.

Well I think that's weird. 
Ah but then again, Microsoft.

Very odd, I've used that same link for 11 systems now and it works every time.

Hardware or Software Disable your AV once you've downloaded the tool
and see if that makes a difference.

I have done that. I have even uninstalled the AV, disconnected everything but the mouse, Keyboard, monitor and primary hard drive, turned off all services, disabled all startup entries, reset the tweaks to Windows 10, and everything else that is suggested. The tool fails and so does an ISO burned to a disk.

The tool fails and so does an ISO burned to a disk.

You may have or probably have thought of doing a 'complete Reset' of your existing installation(Using RESET Function) with the intent of getting everything back to W10 Default Installation and then try to upgrade to Fall update.

Yes I have but that would wipe out all of my installed programs. If I'm going to go that route, I may as well do a wipe and clean install since I do have backups of all of my files. I just don't want to do that. If it doesn't come through Windows Update, which I have little confidence would work either, then I'll just continue on with 10240 as long as possible. I don't really care about at least 95% of the changes in 10586 anyway.

I have a Dell Laptop (32 bit) that would not go beyond 10240 on the Preview updates.
The only way to update it to the current release was a clean install. I was able to keep my personal information but,
had to re-install any programs I wanted after the upgrade to Fall 11/2015.
Your choice.

So Bob am I to understand that using the "Reset" function in W10 renders different results then a "Clean Install", or is it the same.

The reset function reinstalls Windows, keeps personal files, but wipes installed programs. A clean install wipes everything.

That is not a clean install. A clean install wipes everything. It sounds like you did a reset.

Very strange since the Media Creation Tool allowed me to burn a USB containing both the 32 and 64 bit
version of Windows 10 build 10586. I used that usb drive to do the install on the 32 bit Dell that would not
update. It is now up to date with the latest version.

I just gotta say in the years and years I've been using MS operating systems I can not recall such disorganization and unreliability.
So now a bunch have the Fall Win 10 update (myself included) and a bunch don't have it.

The page for the Media Creation tool now says that it can not be used to upgrade to 1511. I guess, (actually I know for a fact) that others, besides me, could not get it to work. I guess I'll throw away my burned disk of 1511 too since that probably has the same bugs that prevented the tool from working. They said they have not pulled the update from WU though but I bet that when the ones who haven't received it yet finally do, they will get a patched up version. I still have not seen it btw.

Come to think of it, I do remember checking the version number of setup.exe in the tool created ESD folder and seeing that it said 10240. That was the first time I tried it a week ago. So, now, it looks like they have pulled the 1511 ISO from the tool completely since some people weren't getting it anyway.

With all the reported problems with the update, I'm now kind of glad I haven't gotten it yet.
