Windows Defender Offline now integrated into Win 10 Insider Builds

And also theres now Defender version 4.10 :) So we can again expect some better protection hopefully.

This is very good news. Now, if they could fix the still present issue with Defender taking extremely long to scan folders containing a lot of .exe files, in particular, the Downloads folder, they'd have something. The main reason  I don't use Defender is that on first access of the Downloads folder after a restart or cold boot, it takes up to 3 minutes for the files in the folder to be usable. No other AV I have tried exhibits that behavior. The only solution in Defender is to add that Downloads folder to exclusions which of course is less than optimal. If that one issue was fixed, I probably would settle for using just Defender and the Windows Firewall.

In which way is Avast doing this for years?

Most of us feed Avast with any new infections we may run into. That's what allows the guys in the virus lab to quickly
protect us against new infections

Windows Defender ATP uses Cloud AI with tons of data, we will see how it turns out :)  I would like MS to make use in some way of this in Home use versions of Windows 10 to improve it even further.

Well finally decided to take the time and upgrade my W8.1 to Windows 10
The thing I find interesting, is the Machine (HP Compaq 8510p) I purchased new with XP PRO originally installed at point of sale years ago.
The machine was updated to W8 Pro after many years of excellent XP service. The machine was then updated to W8.1 Pro where it now sits ready and "capable" of running W10 Pro.
Interesting 8)

Addition: Process took 58 minutes
Only one program needed reinstalling (MS Network Monitor) Others updated and Reset to W10 once OS rebooted.
Very Smooth.

Sometime around early August of last year I upgraded from Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, and like you found the process very smooth and reasonably quick.  The only program that was not compatible was TrendMicro's RUBotted, a rather obsolete security program, which I uninstalled.  Currently running version 10.0.10240.  Never saw issues with the Start button or Cortana or other so far.
Windows 10 Home 64-bit 22H2 Avast Premier Security version 24.1.6099 (build 24.1.88821.762)  UI version 1.0.797
 UI version 1.0.788.  Windows 11 Home 23H2 - Windows 11 Pro 23H2 Avast Premier Security version 24.2.6105 (build 24.1.8918.827) UI version 1.0.801

That's OK because we all know, there aren't any viruses on a Mac. :)
