Thanks DavidR  :)

You're welcome.

I haven't experienced this issue on my XP system that had 17.3.2291, but I have now got 17.4.2292 beta, but for now I haven't run any test scans on that.

@CraigB,

I didn't accept/allow the Windows Defender notification.  I disabled it.  Is this a huge mistake and if so, what do I need to do to fix it?

I didn't know I should have disabled WinPatrol.

You should be able to reverse the decision in Winpatrols startup section, you might even see the disabled startup in Taskmanager and once you enable it then WinPatrol will likely ask for permission again, I haven't used Winpatrol for some time now so don't quote me on that.

I enabled both.  I'll restart my computer and see if the Windows Defender notification pops up again.

After the reboot, the problem is now solved.

What's nice is that this new module in Windows 10 discovered the problem.
What's not good is that Avast didn't indicate this problem.
(I've reported this to Avast)

Users who are still on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, please take note of this:

Microsoft has now started to block Windows 7/8.1 updates on PCs with recent processors

https://www.onmsft.com/news/microsoft-has-now-started-to-block-windows-78-1-updates-on-pcs-with-recent-processors

Please upgrade OS to Windows 10 to continue to receive security updates from Microsoft Update and updates to the processors.

Sorry but you're putting the horse before the cart. It's Windows 7 and 8.1 related. :)

I hooked up another win 10 computer this afternoon and getting the win updates.  It didn't show the Creator's update so I'm installing it from the link bob3160 posted.  It's only 32% completed and the other updates are installing.  I know I have to restart my computer but just wondering what that will do to the Creator's update.
