avast not getting updated

dear all
avast is unable to update itself by the use of proxy. I don't know what is the reason behind this. Please help. Also, the antivirus is not getting registered online.

What version of avast you are using? Did you try doing a repair of avast via add/remove? What previous antivirus did you use prior to installing avast?

GUI>Settings>Update>scroll down to "Proxy Settings">tick the "direct connection (no proxy)" box  :)
