If you mean you are going to setup a raid with the drives, you need to start from scratch.
eg: reinstall EVERYTHING

What exactly is it you want to do with the drives and how do you want to do it?

Oh, seems you are talking about defragmentation. Doing it you can leave avast running. I'm using Diskeeper8 Pro and I don't know any defragmentation program, which had any problems with avast providers.  ;)

I hope I understood you correctly.  :-\

Defragmentation of the disk drives/partitions was never on avast!'s way... you can do it hundreds of times if you want, and everything will still be ok. It just reorganizes data on your partitions, so access to those information can be much faster... it doesn't erase or delete anything...

Just make sure nothing "huge" runs in the background while you are doing defragmentation, because it can significantly slow down the defragmentation process.

No need to worry  ;)
