Excluding files
« on: September 11, 2005, 01:11:36 PM »
I've downloaded and installed GT2 http://philip.helger.com/gt/ and Avast said:
[Sign of "Rutedrop [Trj]" has been found in "C:\Programs\GT2\gtdata.dll"]
I've mailed the author and he asured me it's just sample code. So I added it to the "exclude" list in avast.
I tried to instal gt2 again and avast goes "Warning", (see above).
I turned avast off and installed gt2. Again. Scanning a file (with gt2), avast goes "warning".

Why doesn't avast ignore the file/folder I excluded? Is there another way to exclude files?

How exactly did you add it to the exclusions list?
In what exclusion list did you put it?

Sure, there are actually two exclusion lists: one in program settings, affecting the on-demand scanners, and another one in Standard Shield settings, affecting Standard Shield (i.e. on-access protection) only.
Second, it's necessary to put the complete mask to the exlucions, i.e. something like
C:\Programs\GT2\*
or
*\gtdata.dll
I'd rather suggest the later, because of potential problems with long file names in the first case.

Oh, there is the WebShield exclusion list for websites too

Thanx! I finally found the standard shield settings, set the mask like you said and it worked like a charm. ;D
