In the  2015 free version I don't see the program and database versions listed anymore.

It's no longer on the tray icon in Avast Internet Security.  I miss it, too.  You can right click on the tray icon and select "About Avast" to open the AvastUI and see the information.

It will also be show (guess where) in the update section, though not as handy if shown when you hover over the tray icon. This however didn't happen on XP OS, so not missed there.
