Avast 2015 as an upgrade install to 2014 - smooth as silk
« on: October 23, 2014, 06:54:23 PM »
A couple of nights ago I installed the 2015 standalone installer on Windows 8.1 a VMware VM.  That went perfectly and the product just worked fine.

Today, after the VM testing, I installed 2015 on my host workstation (of course choosing Custom Install and all the options I prefer to use).  Again, this was an extremely smooth, quick operation, with nothing unexpected, and a very nice surprise - virtually all my settings, including a custom scan, were retained.

System benchmarks show my system to be performing at nominal levels.

All my applications work fine.

Software Updater says everything's up to date.

All systems go.

Thank you, Avast!  I couldn't have hoped for a better experience.

A couple of days of hard system use on the same bootup and ZERO problems with Avast 2015 so far.  Very nice!

Obviously no problems here:

If your system is capable of using NG, which is new for 2015, please note that you
will experience a relatively short period of slow computer usage.
That's because Avast will be busy setting up this new technology. Once the virtual drives are
set up, the lag will disappear and your system will be as quick as always.
The potential increase in security through this new Next Generation technology is certainly
worth the short inconvenience. IMHO
