Comparing Avast Home to paid AV programs

Many websites compare AV programs, but when AVG or Avast is included in the list, they always use the pro versions, which have more features.  I'd like to see how Avast Home Edition (free) compares to fee-based AV programs like NOD, McAfee, Norton and CA.  Most specifically in detection rates.

Avast home uses the same scan engine and vps as the pro version.
Detection therefor is the same.
