Avast anti theft works when SIM is removed?

I can´t connect to my mobile to track it when the SIM is removed (I asume would be the first thing a thief would do). Is there anything to do? Otherwise just wait for the thief to try to use his/her SIM card?

To start with this should be in the anti-theft sub-forum
Avast Anti-Theft for Android.

That said (as an avast user) I can't see how that would be possible without a SIM to connect/call home, I don't know if this is possible using a wifi connection. But checking out the sub-forum I gave you as someone has probably asked that question before.
