Force update prior to computer use
« on: February 27, 2015, 05:11:07 PM »
Is there any way to force the Avast to update before a computer can be used. My daughter never updates her antivirus, so I want to force her to wait to use the computer until after the program and definitions are completely  up to date.

Is this possible?

OK. Is there a way to make the computer unusable until the updates have been completed right after boot?

No, but you can set automatic updates for both program and definitions, and put a password on Avast! so she can not change anything :)

Not within avast there isn't - though you could try to find something to delay windows start slightly.

https://uk.search.yahoo.com/search?p=delay+windows+start I just wonder if this too would delay avast, counter productive.

I don't know if you have your daughter to:
A) logon to her account - during this period avast being for all users would probably be updating before they complete the logon.
B) with this cavalier attitude to security - perhaps you should have your daughter on a limited user account. If for no other reason it can limit damage if she does get infected.
