AntiSpam is falsely marking 99% of all email as spam in Outlook
« on: November 12, 2014, 01:42:15 AM »
Hi All,

I have a customer who I was called to recently who has a problem with the AntiSpam module.  She has full paid for Avast Internet Security, has a valid subscription and uses Outlook 2003. The problem stared around 1 month ago but she is now finding it frustrating to keep going into the spam folder to move the legitimate email back to the inbox or relevant folders.

At first I noticed she had the 2014 version, so updated to the latest 2015 version from within the program.  This completed successfully but did not resolve the problem.  We altered the sensitivity to low, but this had no effect.  We have now turned the AntiSpam module off, and all email is delivered to the inbox, but obviously without any Spam filtering.  I have check the white and black lists, but both are empty.

I also performed an uninstall using the control panel, rebooted and then re installed from the avast website just in case the upgrade from within the avast UI migrated any problem setting or corruption, but this too hasn't resolved her problem.

Does anyone know what the cause could be and how to fix it.  I know the Outlook version is 2003 and old, but it does what she wants an email client to do.  I know Microsoft have dropped support for Office 2003 now, have avast done the same?

She runs Windows 7 X64 SP1

Thanks for any help!

1. Download Avast Internet Security: http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions..!!)
3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot.

Thanks for your reply.  I haven't had time to check this out yet with my customer, but when I do I will report back.
