so i'm trying to reach a site to fill out an employment application and it takes 4-5 minutes to load. I don't get any warnings or anything from avast, it just occurred to me to disable it, after doing so, the site loaded more or less normally. When i re-able avast, it takes the site 4-5 minutes again to load.

I do have a feeling on what the problems are.
Yes, problems, I suspect there two things.
First one is with the website/server itself and the second one the webshield.
I hope you are willing to test something.

1] If you don't already have it, download and install CCleaner
2] Run the drive cleaning part with no applications running (no browser open)
3] Run the registry cleaning part and fix all problems found.
4] Repeat the registry cleaning again and again, till it doesn't find anything anymore.
5] Reboot your system with avast enabled.
6] Try to open the website and see what happens.

I suspect you will still have the delay, but don't worry.

Now, repeat steps 2, 3, 4 and 5.
- Open the avast ui.
- Disable only the webshield.
- Try to open the website.

Are you noticing any difference?
If so what difference?

In case you are getting a error message or something like that, write it down (take a screenshot or something) and let us know here.
I don't expect you to see any error message, but I am mentioning this just in case.
The more (possible) information we have, the better can we narrow down the problem :)

do you mean the wipe drive thing? i don't have the time to do the drive clean thing. i only did the other parts.

Disabling the web shield lets me on the site, enabling it makes the site take a long time to load. It's already taken too long and I missed the window to apply as i spent all night last night trying to figure this out. I'm going to uninstall this crapware avast.

start CCleaner > Cleaner > analyze > run cleaner

That means you don't want to solve a problem. It only takes about 5 minutes, unless your drives is really filled up with unneeded files. But that is something that only you could have prevented.

Crapware?
Just because you have a problem doesn't mean it is crapware.

As I said: "the website/server itself is already slow"
That means it is not just avast causing a (potential) problem.
The website uses a lot of JavaScript, that means a lot needs to be scanned.
And yes, that takes time.

Too late?
No it isn't.
You can get the same problem with other craply programmed websites.

If you don't want any computer (related) problem....
Guess what...
It is not possible in todays world.

avast can't help it that the website is badly programmed and that they have server problems.
Only the website owner/host can solve those things.

too late, as in, the position is no longer there. I missed out on completing the application for the position because it took me forever to realize that your trashware was giving me hassles.

yes it can. By not being in my computer anymore. See? Now I can use the site. Not that it matters anymore.

No, they can't.
avast didn't programmed that website.
avast isn't hosting it.

If you put the wrong fuel in your car, who is to blame?
The tire manufacturer?
The local butcher?
No!, just you.

Sounds like you are using programs illegally.
Cracks, illegal patches and such.

I never have seen CCleaner making applications not usable.
Not saying it can't happen, but multiple applications at the same time...

No avast can't help it if a website is badly programmed and hosted.
