Since it does not take long I'd recommend do a clean uninstall of Avast (see how to in my signature), install the MS update, then do a clean install of Avast.  Before you uninstall Avast you can save your settings and re-import.  Also, while you are doing a clean install you should click on CUSTOM and only choose the items you want installed.  These patches and also program updates always seem to have some type issues......some people see, some don't....but a clean un/re-install really seems to help almost everyone.

I don't know how to save my settings and re-import.

Think in the Avast UI under Settings>General there is a backup settings button.

Running W7, updated Avast. Had to force rebot and afterwards could not access internet.  checked server connection with 2nd laptop.  No Issues there,  After additional trouble shooting, had to uninstall Avast.  Now no issues without it.  additional computers asking to update Avast.  I have not done that.  dh

I had problems getting aswsnx.sys to update to 10.0.0020.772

Typo, sorry. Should have read aswsnx.sys 10.0.2208.722

I now have the 722 update and things are technically working but insanely slow.  I run off an SSD and boots usually take 8-9 seconds, right now it takes about 4 minutes.  When executing a file that required UAC it took 45 minutes, but worked.  Obviously that isn't a usable timetable and I still need a fix.  It won't let me run a system restore if that is what comes to mind as a first option for repair.

Just ran THEKOCHS "Clean Un/Re-Install How-To" (reply #196) and still have "aswsnx.sys 10.0.2208.712"

Any idea why?

Win 8.1 - 2015 version paid Avast Internet Security

Logged out, logged in. Nothing happens. Still reports 1.0.2208.712. Is there a download that I can apply? Do I need to reboot? I am in Chicago, USA.

Okay, left the system alone for a bit. The .dll now reads 10.0.2208.722. Update installed, no problems. Good work guys.

Thanks cto2 (post 187). Removing Avast has fixed the problem.

If I download Avast again is it safe to assume it will come with a patch or should I wait a day or 2? I don't want all the hassle of a not shutting down, no control panel laptop again.

Hi LagunaJim..

Ref. to your statement above, real 'True' or 'false'? Is it working?
I still watching the forum since last 2 days, waiting for positive feedback from others.
At this moment, my PC is cured from freezing - after removing Avast (took sometimes). My opinion, it is quite weird to have a patch that need an unbroken PC to be broken just to install the patch - I believe, the patch should be precompiled in the new clean install version, one time download (no more patching/call home/internet required - my speed is an expensively sad 128kbps, yes small 'b').

Thanks all.

Thank you Avast team.

Installed Avast and logged in to Avast to get Avast Pro 2015. Rebooted and checked aswsnx.sys and it's version 10.0.2208.722  :) Installed update KB3000850, rebooted and everything works great.

Thank you Avast for working so fast to get out a patch.

Thank you Avast for the quick reaction and fix. Installed latest build this morning Swiss time, and now my issues with latest Win 8.1 Upd3 (November update) are fixed wrt Avast and also, ClassicShell (I presume the incompatibility with Avast was deadlocking something in ClassicShell).

Even though the last 2 days were a PITA for users with almost bricked PCs like mine, I don't think Avast is to blame - I rather have congratulations for you. Now, how did it occur that such a widely used product as Avast was not detected as impacted by Microsoft QA teams when they tested November update, is surprising actually.

Hi.

I want to thank Avast Support Team the quickness in solving the problem.

I had installed KB3000, and installed over it Avast Premier, updated the program and all working flawlessly, with asw*.sys versiĆ³n *722.

Seems Avast cares for its costumers...

10 (highest mark in Spain) for Avast!!!
