I´m sorry, but my english is not very good, I´ve been reading several pages of this topic and I´m not very sure.

1.- I have Windows 8.1 SO
2.- I had Avast.
3.- I Installed KB3000850.
4.- I had some problems, as everybody.
5.- I decided to uninstall Avast.
6.- Problems finished.

Now...I really like avast, and I would like to know if the problems are fully resolved.

With Windows 8.1 and kb3000850 already installed...
Could I download the last installer from the WEB and install it without any fear?

Thanks a lot.

Yes as the latest installer has the fixed driver

Download Avast Uninstall Utility to your Desktop.
Download the correct version of Avast
Avast Free
Avast Pro
Avast Internet Security
Avast Premier
Disconnect from the net
Uninstall Avast via control panel

  • Run the uninstall tool and accept the reboot to safe mode
  • Once complete reboot your system
  • Reinstall Avast

I'm sorry, but I'll insist.
If Avasts is already updated with the last patch, and aswsnx.sys driver is version 10.0.2208.722, it's necessary uninstall Avast before installing KB3000850?

How do I get this update for my Avast EPS users? I also use Avast Enterprise Console.

I've been using Avast for at least 10 years and before installing this latest version I never had to uninstall Avast to install any Windows updates.
Will you please stop all that motion in your avatar. It is really irritating. Makes it difficult to read other people's post. I have no problem with your message, though some might object, just this constant motion is intolerable.

A lot of win7 64 bit users have problem with KB3004394 because Microsoft in their wisdom broke the certificates. Makes one wonder how AV will function when suddenly certificates aren't there.

Over the years, it's been always my procedure to turn off all real-time security. Make an image backup, download, check the list and install the M$ updates, reboot. All security gets back and all is well with few alerts for the new stuff. Dont't know if this would apply to the latest Avast.

Hello,
I'm running Windows 7 x64 and Avast still doesn't work for me (starting with the Windows Updates in November).
I uninstalled Avast and ran the uninstall utility, then installed  the version linked a few posts above as well as the one you get on the front page of avast.com (tried the whole procedure more than once), but after a reboot, my system is always unusable again (no internet, no programs open, control panel elements don't work etc.).  I also uninstalled all Windows Updates that are said to cause problems, but that also didn't help.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Please, please help. We have used Avast for years. Since my husband and I both updated to the latest Avast Internet Security (2015.10.0.228) in mid-December, both of our laptops have slowed to a CRAWL. Click to open a page and wait.... wait... wait... for a response. Eventually it will load, but doing virtually ANYTHING is a huge frustration. Sometimes it will "break loose" and be ok for a while, but then it bogs down again.

HE has Windows 8 (64 bit) and I have Windows 7 (64 bit). I have read this thread and I don't know what to do.... I see some saying that the Windows Update problem discussed here applies only to Windows 8 users, but we both started having the issue after the Avast update. PLEASE, any help would be appreciated!

See if disabling  NG will make a change for you.
Control panel > Programs and Features > Select Avast > Select Change > Scroll down and uncheck NG > Reboot the system after the procedure is finished.

Yes, when I first read post, it seemed very similar to the numerous other posts regarding the effect of "NG" module on system performance while setting up virtual environment (if that's the correct term) and also significant HD space taken.

OMG thank you thank you! I made this fix on both of our laptops, and they are both running MUCH better! Still a bit of lag here and there, so I think there might be something still amiss, but it's about 90% improvement! THANK YOU!

Your welcome. Something brand new (NG) usually takes a while to fine tune. :)

Unfortunately, the improvement seems to have been short-lived. :( Both computers ran much better for the first day or so after I disabled NG, but yesterday were back to being very slow. As of this morning, mine was practically non-usable: click to a tab or program, and wait 2-5 minutes for a response. I finally managed to do a restart and it is a little bit better now, but I'm at my wit's end.... not sure whether the problems we are having are Avast, our network, "grime", or something else. The fact that my husband and I both have the issues on two separate machines (while the kids' computer does not seem to have the same problems, although they have their own issues thanks to all the online video game crap that they download) suggests... something, but I'm not sure what! #frustrated
