Avast Reports that Device Provisioner on Android is Malware?
« on: November 19, 2014, 03:17:49 PM »
Hi, I have a android Nexus 7 Tablet, and I use Avast on it. I got a report today that Device Provisioner version 5.0-1570855 is malware.
I don't even know what Device Provisioner is, or what it does. So I don't know if I should allow Avast to remove it/disable it.
I have searched online or answers, but no luck.
Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks.

I got the same problem than you.
Impossible to desinstall.
Device Provisioner sounds like payment,so it seems pretty dangerous.
Already sent a mail bout this...

I am wondering if it has anything to do with the Android Lollipop update issue? It is a big problem for those using the Nexus 7 tablet ( 2012 version ).
Here is the forum where it is being discussed:

Thanks for the report, seems like we are detecting PUP in new version of provisioner - there is updated NFC feature seems not be very safe..
