avast 4 home does not work on windows server 2003

I'm not a spert on server solutions but I think avast! Home version just run into these PLATFORMS

No, that's not the reason. It is true that avast! Home/Pro do not work on any server but avast! Server Edition of course does . And this product has been sent to VB Tests. Unfortunately they were not able to install it (DNS Server was not set on their test machine) and they contacted us too late to help them to solve this little problem

Thanks avast! Not all the "Certificate" tests discover avast! yet.
I'm happy my first guess to bryan986 was correct. As I said, I'm not a server expert  
Pavel, any news about other antivirus Certificates for avast? Comparison and certification are becoming important for avast! users...

Sorry but neither avast Home ($0) nor avast Pro ($39) will work on Windows Server OS... And I'm quite sure you'll find similar policy for other comparable software products (such as Backup, Firewall and other...).

OK, you are right minacross - the title in "What's new" is misleading.
It was trying to say that the Standard Shield on NT-based platforms is fully UNICODE now - but sort of forgot about the fact that the mentioned avast! versions (Home and Pro) cannot be installed on Windows 2003 (which is only server, afaik).

I'm not Bryan, but just FYI, it's not "quite an expensive fun" as you think it is. Many people (either an official M$ testers, or college students whose college subscribes to special M$ program, or whatever) can get a fully legal version (any version) of Windows 2003 Server without paying anything for it   I know that because I do have a fully legit access to a free downloads of any current M$ OS (as well as some other products like Visual Studio and such), I can download any of them and use them on any PCs that I have at home (as long as it's not used for commercial purposes), they are all full versions, no "time expiration" or anything like this and I don't have to pay a single $0.01 for any of them. So no need for your sarcastic comments.

I don't think Vlk's comment was sarcastic in any way. It really could be an expensive fun !

And although there could be some users which either bought it or have the access to it like you, it is really not very usual and common OS system for home computer. It is quite normal that third party software for such OS costs much more than for workstations OS - such is the life around us. I do not see anything wrong on our decision that avast! Home/Pro does not work at all under such system...

It is really pitty that Bryan did not answer this (and also the other) question in this forum...

I know of at least one FREE antivirus product (not time-limited) which works with Windows 2003 Server (and it actually works with other Windows OSes, I believe you can even make it work under Win98, though I haven't tried it personally). You probably know what I'm talking about

Please tell everybody which software is free under Windows 2003 Server, no matters at all. Anyway, I think like Vlk and Pavel (it is really not very usual and common OS system for home computer).
It's a pitty that bryan has gone away  :'(
