Filseclab firewall have fixed the avast ashWebSV problem!
« on: September 02, 2005, 06:12:18 PM »
For those that might remember I installed Filseclab firewall about 4 weeks ago, and it had a compatibility problem with avast. I kept getting a message saying:

"ashWebSv.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close".

Filseclab firewall promised to fix the problem one month ago and they have managed to ;D

Yes, that's a little problem conflits with avast and it has been resolved now, but we have not yet publish the formal update package now because we are resolving other bugs. you may download the temporary update package from http://dl.filseclab.com/update/xfilter_update_dll.exe , launch and update it, your problem will be resolved.

When I try the link:

http://dl.filseclab.com/update/xfilter_update_dll.exe

the page comes up as unavailable and I am directed to the filseclab downloads page where there is no sign of this update.

This update pack is for Filseclab Personal Firewall Professional Edition?

What is fixed?

I can't find any information on the site about this...

Thanks

Filseclab is one true good firewall, very nice interface and easy to use and create rules, has a nice bandwidth monitor too, when combined with Avast and a good component control program like Antihook, it offers a formidable layer of defence and all for free.

Is something missing from Filseclab (what a name) since you mention Antihook?

Does it offer extensive connection loggings, both allowed and blocked?

I might try it someday when it has matured, but propably then not free anymore ;)

Jarmo,

Filseclab is fully mature, this is an upgrade from version 2 released last year, it features excellent logging as well as good rule creation, it like Kerio is not a component control firewall so Antihook fills that void nicely. Also features regular upgrades of port blocking, ad blocking, trojan and worm blocking as well as flash media blocking rules which gets upgraded from their server. Best thing is that the devs respond to your queries.

It will remain free, the source code of the version 2 is for sale.
