Help finding application blocked by firewall - SOLVED
« on: November 27, 2014, 04:34:21 PM »
Looking at my firewall logs I have noticed many outbound transmissions being blocked for a specific application.  This began 11/26.  The 'show rule' option in the right click menu is grayed out and the 'show application' option doesn't show me anything useful besides describing the application as 'System'.  There are no apparent issues when using my computer normally.  I have a feeling the blocked application is some sort of update service or something like that.  I would just like to figure out exactly what it is.  Any help is appreciated!

Determined the problem was due to settings under System Rules, not Application Rules.  Specifically, it looks like the firewall was blocking outgoing requests having to do with Windows file and printer sharing.  Turning those services off has stopped the records from recurring in the log.

I knew that.  The -.115 is my computer's assigned location on my network and the -.255 is the broadcast address.  Google wasn't very helpful.  That's why I'm here.
