I believe Kerio is being discontinued, not transfered to some other company... that's the case with Sygate. Kerio will be completely shut down... Of course it will still work, but there will be no updates at all, and after some time people will be on their own. Especialy those which have no clue why updating of such a product is that important... many newbies or not that computer security literate people out there, so that's my main concern...

Miha, absolutely no problems with torrent downloads nor with any other kind of P2P transfer. Remember ? You advised me to start using Azureus ?  ;) No problems at all, and I have to say, tens of times faster than any other sharing utility out there.

Also, direct downloads with BitTorrent works perfect, even without a need to open some specific ports in my router... it's done automatically because I use a wonderful feature in my router called UPnP.

If you want me to go further than that... LimeWire works perfect as well, never ever had problems with Kazaa Lite on my old machine...

I'm telling you, you will NOT have any problems with torrents. I am happy ZoneAlarm Free Edition user, although I am not that happy with that company's politics, but oh my... what can we do ? No one is perfect, so they are not perfect either.  ;) But speaking about great firewall that covers some areas for which some other firewalls have naver heard, that's the beauty inside the beast  ;D

Yes I'm aware of that, but it's the frequency of updates due to security issues with kerio that I don't believe are many, especially when compared wit outpost 1.0 which stopped development years ago, yet many are happily using that.

For the most part newbies have as much of a problem with allowing (serious potential for harm) or blocking everything that their firewall pops-up because they haven't a clue (newbie) what the information presented means. This in my mind is a more serious issue than the updates to a firewall which are usually few and far between.

Of course, and the main problem is their ignorance and/or being too lazy to learn or at least to do some researching about those pop-up message contents and files that access was requested for. That way, they would be much more safe, rather than not knowing anything and just click OK when they get those pop-ups...

Exactly, and I'm just saying that because I know that people (mostly newbies, and there is many out there) are affraid and not feeling comfortable when they hear their beloved firewall is being discontinued, abandoned, whatever... that doesn't give them feeling of security enough strong to keep them using that product. If developers gave up on it, why wouldn't I ? Unfortunatelly that's the case with many...  :-\

Oh i'm still using Kerio i'm not rushing to switch it, i'll still use it, well that is until i find a firewall that i like better and then i'll change it no need to hurry  ;)

Yes, still those privacy incompatiblity issues with Pro version and WebShield, but you don't need those extra features in ZA Pro version, since you are using some external tools for the same purpose. So, I guess you will be quite happy with ZA Free version...

Just somehow solved problem with Zone Alarm here. NetVeda is not liked by my PC, as it started just to freeze almost on every boot after password entered.  :-\ My PC is very stuborn stupid box, which works only with Kerio, now seems it doesn't mind working with ZA. But now I have new hardware, which is found only when ZA is in my system. Also had a lot of errors but I've just disabled that new "hardware" and everything seems to work fine. Maybe someone knows what it can be? Motherbord cd does not contains needed driver for this "device", which is gone with other firewalls installed here.  :-\ PS. MB is Asrock K7S41GX

And seems it's problem not only I have.  ;D

Yeah well i know i said i was gonna stick with Kerio but i couldn't help myself i just had to try  out ZA  ;D Ofcourse i made a backup before to be on the safe side.I must say ZA finally works OK for me and i'm very glad i installed it  :)
