Warning message while starting email protection

Hi Zeppy
This is Naman
I need some help

There's been a little problem while configuring to my mail protection wizard, it was on but was not downloading any mails.
So I stopped the protection & enabled it again (OE was closed at that time).
When I clicked finish 4 warning messages displayed:

1.) Avast will not be able to scan your NNTP messages
2.) Avast will not be able to scan your IMAP messages
3.) Avast will not be able to scan your SMTP messages
4.) Avast will not be able to scan your POP3 messsages

Please help
I'm using Avast Home edition ver 4.6

What other security (related) software do you have installed?

Hi Eddy
I'm using Win98se
I have a Mc Afee Firewall installed & All in one secretmaker service
But earlier I had no problems, this time also when it showed the warning I disabled the above mentioned sevices & tried again but no luck

I also tried the same thing after a system restart but no results

One more thing I just found out was that my web shield was also stopped. It showed a message that this service is waiting for a subsystem to start

Jandials, into your firewall settings, should be allowed to connect:
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashMaiSv.exe (avast! e-Mail Scanner Service)

If you have advanced rules, allow email rights: outgoing on ports 110, 25 and 119; accept connections from localhost on ports 12110, 12025, 12119.

Run the Mail Protection Wizzard and see if the problem is solved.

I ran the E-mail Protection wizard again but no luck.
I also uninstalled & then reinstalled the program still no results
Then I went for the OS reisntall (thought a file might have been corrupted) still no results.

What is the error code in the message ?
