Avast is blocking java email transfer
« on: December 02, 2014, 12:25:43 PM »
We seem to have a problem with the Avast Endpoint Protection Suite Plus.
When running a web application on this computer (a java based one) that is trying to send e-mails, there is an error with the SMTP connection. It seems avast is using some kind of proxy to redirect the SMTP connection to 127.0.0.1 but the java application can't seem to handle it. The only way around this is to disable ANTI-SPAM and disable SMTP checking in the Mail Shield. We can live with disabling SMTP checking in the Mail shield but disabling ANTI-SPAM is not really an option. Is there a way to circumvent local addresses (192.168.0.0) for the internal AVAST proxy, or any other solutiuon to our issue?

Kind regards

Christian

I'm sure you can add a rule in the firewall to allow JVM applets SMTP access to the local subnet...  Unfortunately, I don't have "Plus" so I can't tell you how...  I typically recommend Endpoint Protection Suite - not EPS Plus - because of so many issues encountered with that firewall.

Sorry I can't be more help than that.  :(
