This win update has been downloading since a little after 3 yesterday afternoon.

Microsoft Update Catalog can't find any results for this update.

Received two different KB's on two different Win 10 machines.  One today and the other, yesterday.

What's notable about both is both came in May 9th, and yes, here they are again, before the month is out.   ???

Both required going to Microsoft Update Catalog and downloading both KB's.  One worked out to 1.1 GB and the other, 531.8 MB, as neither would install normally.  Ugh.

I was thinking maybe so.

Having Windows Defender run in 'Limited Periodic Scanning' may not be worth the risk, tho.

Even though Windows Defender can be run in 'Limited Periodic Scanning' or even disabled, because it is an integral part of the OS I think that Microsoft would apply all fixes even if it were disabled.

I would tend to agree with that as who knows when you (or Windows) may actually have it run, so it has to have ll fixes applied.

Hi DavidR
Would you have to uninstall avast to run Windows Defender or would just disabling the shields be enough.

Sorry if I have hijacked thread :-[

cheers

Personally I wouldn't even entertain the idea of running Windows Defender - if I did there would have to be a good reason to do so - you mention nothing about why/what you are trying to achieve here.
.

Windows Defender, I believe can be set for on-demand scans, but again I have no idea what it is you are trying to achieve here.

Avast can be paused and that should be enough - again I have no idea what it is you are trying to achieve here.

Avast can be set to Passive mode - again I have no idea what it is you are trying to achieve here.

So we are going to go well off-topic here as I don't believe this is a single answer scenario.
