The stub cannot run installer/updater executable

Hi there,

I have Windows 7 Professional with Avast Free 7 installed. I cannot uninstall Avast through control panel, and when I try to run avastclear.exe in safe mode, I get: "The stub cannot run installer/updater executable c:\program files\avast software\avast\setup\sfx\avast.setup (code 0x3)"

Do a full system scan with MalwareBytes Antimalware Free and attach the logs in your next post. Malware may be present in your system. I have notified to a malware expert to monitor your post.

I did what you said and it seemed to clear a lot of Avast stuff, but I still can't run the avastclear.exe file - I still get the same error.

Have also run a malwarebytes scan and attached the results.

OK lets now remove the files and folders

Then try Avast uninstall
