I am one of the newest folks here and I gotta say that I like the off topic forum.  I use alot of other forums and they all have off topic areas for people to have fun, vent a little, or what ever!  I think the rule of off topic should be just that...OFF TOPIC ONLY!  No talk about the product at hand.  We have other areas to cover all aspects of the product.   That's my $.02 cents worth, so I will just shut up now... ;)

I don't know, I feel that the off-topic forum should stay like it is. If there are technical questions/comments they have their own part of the forum.

I have visited many-a-forum and this one has charm. An area where people can create a community of friends (and not so friends  ><; ) around an awesome product is rare. Personally I wouldn't come here nearly as often if it just was bland technical stuff.

Everyone has their own abilities and personalities to contribute to the forum, and that... makes this place real.

I hope I don't sound crazy and that I have expressed my feelings appropriately in text. If you want to clarify anything feel free to pm me.

I only want to add that i think making forum users the moderators here in off-topic was a bad idea.....

Hi  yes bob I was wondering the same, being as the forum I have been made a moderator of has a place to chat, like this off topic room.
It has taken me 4 reads, and I still can't figure out what he means.

Maybe after all it would be better if Alwil had to deal with all forum issues... This is their forum after all.
That way, no one would be able to complain about how somebody is always on somebody's side... they would have to deal equaly with everybody...

I believe Mikey wanted to say exactly the same thing... I don't see anything wrong in his reply...

I don't either. I just wanted a further explanation.
In the way you enhanced his reply, I kind of have to agree with you.
For one thing, it would end any confusion as to when a moderator replies as a member or,
when he replies as a moderator.
It sure would have eliminated a lot of misunderstandings.

Yes Bob and that was exactly my thought too. That way, they would have to deal with forum issues, and all we would have to do is just to behave... and I believe then it would be much less problems in such a wonderful forum like this one is...

We have to respect each other... I don't believe it's hard thing to learn. I know I respect everybody even those that don't respect me as a human being. It's not enough if only one side is ready, both sides needs to work on that... These forums are gatherings of some of the most beautiful persons in the World, and we all should be happy to be part of these forums, not to dislike each other...

Cheers !

As to avoid confusion..   this is connie.

A friend asked me to please come in and say something here as they think I have a good head on my shoulders.      Wow..  I sure have them fooled    lol

This may get long, and I apologize if it is.   And please bear in mind that its just my opinion and how I feel about this entire forum/communication in the net world thing.

Being a moderator REALLY sucks.     Im talking about it really sucks if you are a member.      Anyone who runs a forum should be aware of this from the get go.
A mod should never ever be someone who frequents the forum alot as a member.
Bad bad bad idea.     Even if they are a good person with a good head on their shoulders it is going to at some point go bad.      If you,  as a moderator,   talk ijn a forum with other members alot and become friends with many of them as well and you then interject your own personal opinions and beliefs you are going to immediately be taken as trying to tell people what you can and can not talk about or how you can talk about it.      As a member and a person just wanting to talk you may say that you dont care for that particular topic or dont agree with it.   (Debate can be healthy if done so with care)   but when you are also a moderator everyone KNOWS you are a moderator and if you say that you are GOING to be taken as trying to tell people they cannot bring up certain things.    It means that as a member and a moderator you pretty much have got to keep your personal feelings and opinions out of everything.     Now, as a human being that isnt so easy to do.    We do, afterall,  have a right to say as we believe and feel about things.     My personal opinion is that a moderator should be someone who just watchs over the forum and makes sure that things do not get out of hand and that the rules as set forth by the owners of the forum are abided by by all.   When , if,  they step in to take care of a problem that arises EVERYONE would know its coming from the moderator and that would cure a huge problem.      Its just the nature of the beast and Alwil should have been aware of this from the get go.

I do not know what the cure for this is..      Ive thought that one over abit.    I would hate to see Alwil close this Off Topic Forum down out of not wanting to either deal with it anylonger,  or out of not wanting to moderate it themselves.    It DOES take time,   but I think it does serve a purpose here.       oh  sure,   it does contain a huge amount of sillyness here and there.   But,  we live in a very stressful world these days and Im sure it gives some a place to let loose and have a little fun and laugh and set aside the stresses of our daily lives.      No harm in that at all.     And if you really look through it there is also some very useful information contained throughout it as well.

Okay, well..   I dropped in as requested    ;) :)        take care ya'll

It's amazing how easy it is to agree even if you don't always see eye to eye. ;D
