Virus chest
« on: December 23, 2014, 05:03:35 AM »
I have a new laptop with Windows 8.1 & had been enjoying playing Taptiles.  One day I opened the laptop to get a message from Avast saying that game was a bit iffy (my words) & did I want to do something or other , forget the exact message so without thinking I clicked yes & now can no longer play that game.  I managed to find my way to the virus chest & tried to undo it but it said only the administrator could do it but I am the administrator.

Now I cannot find out how to get back there & restore the game.  Can someone tell me how & how I overcome the administrator bit please?  Finding 8.1 a bit hard going.

Go to Control Panel/User Accounts and change to an administrator account.

Once you click to restore from virus chest a copy will remain there.

Thanks Craig,  have done that.  Now how do I get to the virus chest?  Have opened Avast & just cannot find the virus chest.  Think the 1st time was a fluke.

Hi Asyn,  followed the instructions & with the "restore" get "You are not allowed to perform this action, please contact your system administrator", I am the administrator.  The " Extract" to the desktop, when I hit on Open says "this application can only be run in the context of an app container". Tried "run as administrator" & get the same answer.  Have checked with the control panel under programs & Taptiles does not come as a stand alone game so further help needed please.

Now  I am totally confused, never heard of such an account.  It's my laptop & no one else uses it. Think I will see if I am able to delete Taptiles & download it again if I am able.  Must say not exactly loving Windows 8.1.  Thank u all for your help to date.

Thank u Bob,  read the link & followed the instructions & added another Hotmail a/c I have & made that the administrator a/c but when I go back to the start my original a/c is still saying I am the administrator & the guest a/c is off so clicked on the guest a/c & turned it on. I did a restart & my laptop opens as before with my 1st name & password so have gone wrong somewhere.  Sorry to be a nuisance but think old age is catching up with me.

Re-read the instructions & went back & changed the 1st a/c to not administrator,  my pages that come up are slightly different to what your link shows so will do another restart & see what happens.

Did the re-start & tried again with the same results as the original a/c.   Changed rights back  to the 1st a/c & still getting the same result.  Not sure where to go now, any further ideas?

I did not had this issue yet with any game and also I never had the issue with avast not letting me to delete/restore etc something from the virus chest yet.
Although that is probably because I am running avast as system administrator already.
